"A man can't turn tail and run just because a little personal risk is involved. What did Shakespeare say? "Cowards die a thousand deaths, the brave man... only 500"?"

Faculty and Staff | Mrs. Barber

Mrs. Barber

Kristine Barber graduated with a B.A. degree from SUU. She has also completed a Kodaly Certification for Levels 1, 11, and 111 from BYU along with several graduate hours. She began her music career at the age of seven when she started piano lessons. Her father was a career Air Force officer and the family moved frequently, so it was a challenge to find a piano teacher at each station. She also took every singing class that she could find. After beginning her college career at BYU, she briefly detoured into a Law Enforcement major which took her to the police science program at SUU. After a couple of semesters in police science, she kept taking band and choir classes and finally decided to switch back into music. Kristine Barber enjoyed singing and performing in several areas including choirs, small groups, traveling assemblies, musical theater and rock bands. She was active in musical theater in the Las Vegas area and currently sings in the SW Chorale and is the assistant conductor for the community choir, Lieto. Kristine Barber has taught music at Intermediate, Middle School, High School, and Junior College levels. Kristine has also taught private piano for her entire career. Her goals are to have her students enjoy singing, find "their" voice, become proficient in reading music, and have music as a lifelong interest.
