Ms. Livingston

For the past 17 years, Ms. Livingston has been in the St. George area. Just trree days arter graduating from Brigham Young University with a major in Psychology and a minor in English in August of 1985, she began her first teaching job in Eureka, Utah, at Tintic Jr./Sr.High. With only five full time teachers and the vice principal and counselor teaching the science classes. Ms. Livingston found herself being the entire English department teaching English 7-12. However, after commuting to Eureka from Springville for one year, she had had enough. Ms. Livingston moved to Vernal, Utah, where she taught for her next three years at Vernal Middle School which was only a few blocks from where she lived. The cold and snow became just too much there, and her next teaching assignment brought her to Southern Utah. Ms. Livingston taught seventh grade Art Foundations, Language Arts, Utah History/Reading, and eighth and ninth grade English classes at Pine View Middle for three years. She also helped in starting the National Junior Honors Society. When Snow Canyon Middle opened, Ms. Livingston moved there. She taught the same subjects for the first year after which she didn't teach art, but she did teach a P.E. class here during the next ten years. She was also involved in National Junior Honor Society and Student Council. With the opening of Lava Ridge and her love for the 7th graders, Ms. Livingston moved again to a new school. Her stay there was only two short years when Fossil Ridge Intermediate opened, and she came to teach on the side of town where she started her teaching in the St. George area. The unique thing about teaching on the east side of the area is that Ms. Livingston now has the opportunity to teach the younger brothers and sisters of some of the students under her belt, Ms. Livingston still loves the enthusiasm that her students bring to her classes. The excitement of learning and high energy level of her students are what keeps Ms. Livingston teaching.
